What are you doing in 2010 to prepare for the coming decade and beyond? I watched a video presentation titled ‘Did You Know?’ which was originally concieved by Karl Fisch in 2006 and has been reworked by many people over the last few years and put on YouTube. The video highlights various statistics about how our world has changed in the last few years as a result of technology and population growth. Many career paths are becoming obsolete, while many new career paths don’t even exist yet. Technology is changing the way we do business and those who don’t adapt will fall by the wayside.

So what are you doing to prepare for the next decade? How are you preparing your children for the future? Is your business going to be able to survive in the new world?

Watch the video, it will either scare you or excite you. You decide.

My poor little laptop has finally finished processing and uploading the second half of the Adelaide Skyshow. Here ’tis!

Last night, I went into the city for the Skyshow. Once again, a fantastic show was put on in Adelaide. Hopefully, it will become a regular event again. I took the Flip camera with me and filmed the show, so for your viewing pleasure, here’s the first 10 minutes….

With autumn starting to set in, today felt like a great day to dust off the old mountain bike and to go for a nice long ride up the Little Para Trails. Starting in my home suburb of Paralowie, I ventured to the western edge to get on the trail at Port Wakefield Road. The fresh breeze and a few spots of rain made the ride all the more pleasant – nothing like the smell of wet eucalyptus. There was even a bit of water in the river after the rain we’ve had over the last few days.

I’ve recently purchased a Flip Ultra digital video camera, and I also got myself a cheap bicycle mount on ebay so a ride on the trail would be a great chance to see how well it performs before taking the bike into the hills. Unfortunately, it performed terribly – the camera was good but the mount didn’t support it very well, and after about 20 minutes, the whole thing fell apart! A Flip Mino might have been better as it is a bit smaller and lighter. The video footage goes as far as the golf course near the northern edge of Paralowie, but I continued cycling to the Old Spot Hotel on Main North Road because it was so pleasant.

Here’s some of the video. If you can get past the shaking from the lousy mount, you’ll see that the Para ride is beautiful, especially in this fresh weather. Enjoy!

Last year, RAAF Edinburgh put on a fantastic display at the Clipsal 500 to give the general public an idea of what the RAAF do in the Adelaide northern suburbs. This year, they’ll be doing it again, so if you’re heading to the Clipsal, be sure to stop by the RAAF display to check out their toys.

Here’s a short video from the 2009 Clipsal with Group Captain Reg Carruthers talking about the display…
